Caravaggio’s masterpiece The Entombment of Christ, reimagined through thermography.
Spread across the back in full scale, the dead Christ is rendered in deep blue, his body marked by the absence of warmth, while those around him emerge in hues of green to orange—alive, radiating heat.

By translating a timeless painting into the measurable language of temperature, the mythical image is reframed within a modern, scientific sensibility.
At the same time, it is an experiment in freezing and then thawing the work—delivering the original shock of Caravaggio’s vision into the present.
Where history and technology intersect, his light and shadow return once more.

Made from a moderately heavyweight 6.2oz fabric, this piece works perfectly both on its own or as a layered inner.
Each print is applied by hand, one by one.

カラヴァッジョの代表作《キリストの埋葬》を、サーモグラフィーによって再構成。
背面いっぱいに広がるこのプリントでは、死したキリストは温度の低さゆえに深い青で表され、周囲の人々はなお体温を持つ存在として、緑から橙へと発熱を帯びた色彩で浮かび上がります。

名画を「温度」という数値へ置き換えることで、神話的イメージを現代の科学的感覚に翻訳。
同時に、絵画をいったん冷凍保存し、そこに込められた衝撃を現代に解凍する試みでもあります。歴史とテクノロジーを交錯させ、カラヴァッジョの光と影を甦らせます。
